If you like stories about looking for treasure, then here are some other books about treasure hunts you might like to read during BOOK WEEK 2018.

In a recent post, I revealed my favourite book when I was growing up was Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. It features the most memorable treasure hunt in fiction.

But it’s not the only one.

If you like looking for treasure and you like stories about looking for treasure, then here are some other books you might like to read during BOOK WEEK 2018.

THE PIE RATS (Series) – Dr Cameron Stelzer

Aussie author Cam Stelzer delivers a thrilling collection of swashbuckling adventures. Jam packed with plenty of humour, action and pies. Suitable for young scallywags aged 8 and up, there are six books in the series.

FIVE ON A TREASURE ISLAND – Enid Blyton

Storm savaged shipwrecks, hidden dungeons in castle ruins and the lure of promised gold. This Blyton classic has it all.

SPOT’S TREASURE HUNT – Eric Hill

If you have a soft spot for Spot the dog, you’ll love this book for older toddlers. There are riddles and flaps galore as you help Spot find six hidden treasures.

THE STORY OF THE TREASURE SEEKERS – E. Nesbitt

What do you do when you’re broke? Search for treasure of course! That’s what the six Bastable children decide to do when their family is strapped for cash. But as any pirate knows, the journey to find your treasure can often be more rewarding than the treasure itself. That’s the message behind this book (which, ok, doesn’t actually contain a treasure hunt). More suited to older readers, this is one of JK Rowling’s favourite books.

TREASURE HUNTERS (Series) – James Patterson (with Chris Grabenstein & Mark Shulman)

Treasure hunting is even more important to the four Kidd kids when nasty pirates kidnap their mum and hold her to ransom. From the Nile to the City of Gold, this five-book series follows their adventures to get her back.

Looking to Find Your Treasure this Book Week? JK Rowling and Taylor Swift are here to help.

Here’s a list of five well-known people and their favourite children’s books.

Maybe you’ll find some treasure where these famous people found theirs …

JK Rowling – The author of the Harry Potter series loved Black Beauty by Anna Sewell and Manxmouse by Paul Gallico when she was growing up. Appropriately for BOOK WEEK 2018 she also treasured The Story of the Treasure Seekers by E Nesbitt.

Prince George – According to his dad, Prince William, George’s favourite book used to be The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson. George’s mum, Kate, says he also likes books about Fireman Sam.

Meghan Markle – Long before she married Prince Harry, Meghan counted The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupèry as among her favourites. It’s funny how things work out.

Taylor Swift – The singer/songwriter lists Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White and Big Bird’s Day on the Farm by Cathi Rosenberg-Turow and Maggie Swanson as her top reads.

David Walliams – The Tiger Who Came to Tea by Judith Kerr. He is also a fan of The Gruffalo.

And the not so famous …

Olivia Ong – Olivia’s favourite children’s book is Matilda by Roald Dahl. She loves the story and Quentin Blake is her favourite illustrator.
